This book investigates gambling systems, by implementing them on a computer. This enables us to experiment with various parameters to see if it is possible to consistently profit from the system.

The book considers three sports; roulette, (UK) football and horse racing.

The first edition of this book was written in 1993 and this second edition, although slightly updated, remains largely faithful to the first edition. This includes programs that are written in GWBASIC (the most available programming language available in 1993 as it was provided as standard on every PC). The web site that accompanies the book provides details of how to install a GWBASIC emulator for both PC and Macs so that you can easily run the programs.

The book comprises 13 chapters, following the same structure as the first edition. The first two chapters explain why bookmakers (and casinos) always win. Chapters 3 to 8 present roulette systems. Chapters 9 to 11 considers (UK) football, presenting three systems that we could use to predict the outcome of matches. In chapters 12 and 13 we consider horse racing. Chapters 3-13 comes with computer programs that you can run to see how good (or bad) the system is.

We have included a recommended reading list. This is a collection of titles that I have found useful in compiling this book, as well as books I have read which has increased my knowledge of gambling and systems.
