This is a curriculum for a 1-2 week Python programming course, designed for students who have no coding experience and have not yet taken Algebra. The curriculum starts with the basics of how to run your first program, and using code examples and game-based practice ideas teaches concepts including functions, if statements, for and while loops, lists, and more key components of Python programming. By the end of the course, students will be able to program basic games using pygame, and they will have the tools they need to troubleshoot their own programs and find more complex programming concepts. Student handouts, practice ideas for each concept, and instructor’s notes are provided for each of five 2-hour lessons.
